The Spotlight Series on Hazelnuts is a multi-faceted tool that includes the following resources:
- Video: Students can learn about hazelnut farming in a 13-minute educational video featuring the passionate team at Van Maren Farms. The video was a collaboration of BCAITC, BC Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries in conjunction with the BC Hazelnut Growers Association.
- Activity: The curriculum-linked Choose Your Own Adventure Hazelnut Farming Activity and lesson plan teach students more about the hazelnut story.
- Recipes: Students can practise their culinary skills while making recipes with hazelnuts created by BCAITC’s Chef Trevor Randle such as Honey Mustard Chicken with Goat Cheese, Prosciutto Ham, and Balsamic Jus Served with BC Hazelnut and Basil Pesto or Chocolate Pudding with BC Honey and Candied Hazelnuts.
- Grow BC: Students can explore Grow BC, an interactive GIS map and story resource, to learn about BC hazelnuts. This resource provides straightforward integration into class curriculum.
